Dental crowns provide an effective protection for teeth that have been broken, heavily treated or heavily filled.
Teeth are made up of enamel, one of the strongest biological materials. The enamel on our teeth, however, can be fragile. For weak or damaged natural teeth, a dental crown may provide the necessary strength. A dental crown is commonly recommended following root canal treatment to protect the tooth from further damage.
Depending on the particulars of your case, there are several types of dental crowns. Materials such as porcelain provide a natural appearance, while gold alloys provide durability and strength in high-force areas.
We will prepare your teeth carefully before taking a 3D Scan that is sent to the dental laboratory for your dental crowns to be made. Upon completion, the crown will cover the tooth’s surface, protecting the underlying structure from further breakage or fracture.
During your bespoke consultation with Dr Vipul, we will discuss all treatment options with you.
Caring for Crowns
To ensure your restoration’s success, it is important that you brush your teeth, use interdental brushes, and floss between your teeth daily, and visit your dentist regularly. Dr Vipul will kindly assist and advise you in any adaptations you’ll need to make to your usual oral hygiene routine.
