With a denture, you can replace your missing teeth, counteracting issues from losing dentition, including difficulty speaking and chewing, unwanted movement of your existing teeth, and facial sagging.
Dr Vipul enjoys designing bespoke dentures that work for you, the patient. With a plethora of custom dentures to choose from, Dr Patel will work alongside you to discover the best possible solution for replacing the function and aesthetics of your smile.
Virtually invisible and entirely flexible, Valplast® partial dentures remove the requirement of metal clasps with thin “gum-coloured” retention guides. The thin and translucent nature of the denture frame means that not only are Valplast® significantly more comfortable than regular acrylic, but they are near invisible.
SunFlex® partial dentures are lighter, more flexible, and virtually undetectable when compared to regular acrylic dentures. They provide the ideal level of flexibility, ensuring optimum retention, stability, and aesthetic appeal.
“Combi Flexi partial” dentures are made of a rigid cast metal frame for larger spans. Whilst maintaining strength they have the benefit of flexible, natural-looking clasps, just like other modern, flexible partial dentures.
A metal partial denture is made of a cobalt and chromium alloy, which is much stronger than regular acrylic. These dentures do not damage the remaining teeth, and they are much lighter to wear. Although the base is metal, they are covered in gum-coloured plastic and have natural-looking teeth attached. Although their price is higher, they are also more durable. You can ask Dr Vipul which dentures are best for you.
After you have your teeth removed, you can get dentures immediately. These are known as immediate dentures. You will need to take an impression or scan of your mouth before your teeth are extracted so the denture can be made.
Compared to traditional dentures, immediate dentures require less healing time. It is normal, however, for the bone and gums to shrink following tooth removal, especially during the first six months. When your gums shrink, your immediate dentures will require relining or adjustment initially, and then remaking after 6 months.
It is natural to experience some difficulty speaking and eating after getting a new denture. As you become familiar with the feeling of your dentures, we recommend cutting food into smaller pieces and chewing slowly. The act of reading aloud at home will allow you to quickly and discreetly correct any speech impediment you may have.
Although you may be able to replace all or some of your missing teeth with dentures, you should still maintain regular dental visits. As your dentures wear out and become loose, you may need to have them adjusted. To ensure that your bite and comfort are optimal, Dr Vipul will monitor your gum health and the fit and condition of your dentures.
Maintaining your dentures clean will also prevent stains and keep your gums and teeth healthy.
When wearing dentures, keep these tips in mind:
